  • Penny volunteered to do the team report; Steph D and Jean to do reference checks
  • Team to complete their sections by Sunday before the meeting
  • Extra meeting called for Sunday night to review assignment and identify review tasks

  • Greetings and hello's
  • Discussion relating Kates Feedback.
  • Brainstorming question for Assignment, to lead to thesis creation.
  1. Alex Malone: The internet economy conducts business through markets whose infrastructure is based on the Internet and World-Wide Web. An Internet economy differs from a traditional economy in a number of ways, including: communication, market segmentation, distribution costs, and price. Use reference to eBay rather than use it as main focus. Concentrate more on answering question.
  2. Alex Cop: Fundamental economic basis of internet commerce is that business is conducted through markets that are based on the internet and web.
  3. _stephumz_: the backend of the online business - the foundations of it … and what they stand for
  4. Jean Moss: if we remove internet for now - what is the main economic reason for commerce?
  5. Penny (Myrth): maybe that's our main point - eBay got it right and are successful therefore contributed to shaping online economic models?
  6. Penny (Myrth): which opens questions like how did eBay set themselves apart, why were they successful, did their economic model exist before or did they define a new one?
  7. Liz Power: the internet has redefined the marketplace and eBay has capitalized on a networked economy.

Summary

  • First time all team members have been present – well done all!!
  • Assignment 1 results are back – members who have received their results are happy
  • Waiting on feedback from Kate about assignment 2 so the team will concentrate on readings for now
  • Poll done amongst the team about team morale – all good!
  • Some discussions about the platforms for team communication but consensus is we continue to use Skype for meetings and Wiggio and Facebook for documents and messages

Summary:

  • Wiggio site was down due to US storms so the group met in Skype
  • Some discussions about the backing up of documents both for the Wiki and for Wiggio in case of site failures
  • The majority of the meeting was devoted to the presentation of the draft outline and to ensure all team members have updated the journal with their thoughts. The headings have been assigned to team members who have or will provide dot point outlines
  • Steph Dwyer will review the draft and make sure it flows. She will also summarise the group’s thoughts in the team Wiki. Deadline is 9 am tomorrow WST
  • Team meeting on Wednesday is still on but from now on will be held in Skype chat

Summary:

  • Great work Liz on the Wiki and Wordpress pages! Team has voted and decided to use Wiki for our Project.
  • Liz has also organized an educational licence for the Wiki so we are legal (otherwise only 5 members allowed)
  • Draft for Kate due next Monday 2 July. Additional meeting is scheduled on Sunday 1 July at 7pm.
  • Team to update Wiki site http://team-alpha-205.wikidot.com by 4pm on Sunday so Steph Dwyer can edit the content before the meeting at 7pm when we can sign-off.
  • Team to also update the journal on the Wiki by Sunday 4pm with their thoughts
  • Some discussion on whether a project plan is necessary
  • As the timelines are tight can all members please check Wiggio regularly to ensure efficient communication.

  • Platform changed to Wordpress due to Wikidot being less flexible
  • Alex C to liaise with Kate R-G weekly as part of assignment 2 (see Kate’s updates http://net205-oua12.wikidot.com/forum/t-510706/team-liaison-and-weekly-check-ins) . Francesca to continue to keep the team communications happening.
  • Some discussions on Wiggio as the platform for collaboration – team agreed to continue using Wiggio
  • All team members should keep a journal of the group work so we can refer to them when writing the report on group processes
  • New member Nick is now the Research Analyst – see Roles document in Wiggio for all assigned roles
  • Team page in Wordpress will be set up by Liz for next week
  • Nick will come up with more efficient ways of brainstorming
